It all started with a very simple idea, bringing families together. Now this idea is what sparked in the mind of our founder David A. Perez. The concept of FREE HUNGER NATION. Now this concept was a burning desire for him to give back to the communities that he already served as a local business owner. In 2013, David decided to deliver turkey dinners to families, who, he felt, could use not only a meal, but also a warm family gathering. Now this was a very small, small feat, with only 12 dinners delivered. Now he knew that this was on to something because many people, his friends, his family, his team asked how they can contribute. And in 2014, The first big event was hosted. David then decided to take this to the next level, and invite the local community, as well as, his friends and family, to contribute in the same way he was doing, but on a larger scale. At this time, David had this calling to feed 200 families, and through the work of the local community, family and friends, they were able to feed over 100 families in that first year. That idea and concept has since grown from 200 to 500 to 1000 to 2500 to now 5000 and the events were always called by their name feeding, and then the number. This has evolved and eventually grew so big that the need for a nonprofit was established. You see, FREE HUNGER NATION, was built by these beautiful people, family members, friends, teams, community leaders, businesses, all with the simple passion of contribution.

We believe that bringing families together during the Thanksgiving holiday is one of the most impactful things that we can do for our community today. Today, FREE HUNGER NATION serves THOUSANDS of families throughout the Rio Grande Valley area, and we'll continue to do this until there's not a need.
